I'm just a terrible blogger. I'm sorry. My love of blogging moved to my love of Facebook! haha But my love of Mia has not changed! In fact is has grown ever so deeply that I can't even remember life without her! She has grown so much and is now an independent, sassy 3-year-old who loves life, is cautious in new situations, is a huge Mama's girl, is extremely intelligent and curious, loves bugs and all things crawly, and knows her way around mom and dad's little fingers!!!
Here are some pics!

Happy Birthday to me. Mia gave me the sweetest handwritten card today. Of course it was in her scribble writing but it was precious! I couldn't ask for a better gift than her love! She is certainly the light of my life! Here is a video of her playing on her xylophone and singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" to her grandpa on the phone. tee hee.
And here she is drawing a person. All the little dots are the eyes and nose. haha. she thinks she has to use all of the "paper" so she draws the arms and legs clear to the edge. so sweet!
I just wanted to promote this as well. I work in a school with special education students and think this is a really great initiative! Will you take the pledge?!
Mia is learning so much now. She's 28 months old now.
She is amazingly up to reading about 50 site words. She can tell you letters she sees and what sound they make. She knows her left and right. She is speaking in 6-10 word sentences and has an incredible vocabulary. She can rote count to 10 and count items up to about 5. She knows all her colors and shapes (even octagon). She can climb on everything and loves the counters! She is inquisitive and asks questions constantly. She sweet and sassy at the same time.
What an amazing little girl! We are so lucky to have her in our lives.
Pics from the day for your enjoyment! Tonight we sat down for fireworks and looked to our right and there was a little boy from Mia's day care and his parents. So they had much fun playing while waiting for the fireworks to start. Mia had fun watching the fireworks and kept saying "BOOM!" She was so cute.
I've been home all week so I have actually had time to plan some good meals! yay! I found this summer cooking cookbook and decided to try some recipes out of it. They have been really good. Here are some of the ones we tried. You can click on them to make them bigger so you can read them. I didn't want to type them all out!!!!
This shrimp marinade is so good. I used fresh basil from my herb garden. It was really good.
No idea why these are sideways. They aren't in the picture I took!!! But anyway... the yogurt/mayo that goes with this recipe is delicious with the salmon!
I have had these at sports concession stands before and love them. They call them a walking taco. But then I saw them in this cookbook and decided to have them at home. You can just use regular taco meat or chili. They're fun to make and eat.
If you like curry I would recommend this salmon recipe. Yummy!
I have been so very, very bad about blogging lately. I spend most of my free time when Mia isn't keeping me busy on F-book. You can find the link in my right column to be my friend and see what we're up to! Lots of pictures on there!
We have been enjoying the start of summer so far. Mia loves being outside and really loves swimming in her pool.
Here is a video I took of her playing in the sprinkler one day when she was sick. She had herpangina which caused her to have tons of little blister sores in the back of her throat. She was miserable and ate nothing but popsicles and ice cream for about 3-4 days. I had to find things to get her mind off of her sore throat. Poor thing. Thank heavens that is over with! Lasted about a week.
Here she is schmoozing Daddy for more pop. She loves pop. That's not a good thing! We can't drink one without her begging for a "dink" You'll also see her fixing her hair... cracks me up. I actually think I might have snorted at that point LOL She's such a ham! Love this little girl to pieces!!!
We went to my school's staff picnic tonight (only 2.5 days of school left for the kids!!! I'm there all summer though...). Mia had a blast playing in the bounce house. Here are a few videos. Took them on my phone so they aren't the greatest quality. She is growing up so fast. I can't believe she'll be two in just a little over a month. Hard to believe!
It’s been a long and winding journey,
But I’m finally here tonight
picking up the pieces
walking back into the light.
If you could see what I see
That you’re the answer to my prayers
And if you could feel the tenderness I feel
You would know it would be clear,
that angels brought me here
