Christmas in Heaven

My dad called me this morning around 1:00 to let me know that my grandma passed away. She is finally sitting in heaven with her sweetheart, my grandpa. She waited 22 years to be reunited with him. They will get to spend this Christmas together. And I know my little Bulldog Mini will be right there with them.

The song "God only cries for the living" keeps running through my head. I heard it on the radio on my way to see her last week.

God only cries for the living
Cause it's the living that are left to carry on
An' all the angels up in Heaven
They're not grieving because they're gone
There's a smile on their faces
Cause they're in a better place than...
ohGod only cries for the living
Cause it's the living that are so far from home.

It's so hard to see someone you love pass away. Especially during the holidays. I miss her already. But what I am really going to miss is her beautiful letters that she would write me. She will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched.
I love you grandma - and give grandpa a kiss for me. (and can you kiss Mini too?)

My First Christmas in Heaven
by Unknown

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below
With tiny lights, like Heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away the tear
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart
But I am not so far away, we really aren't apart.

So be happy for me, dear ones, you know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I sent you each a special gift, from my heavenly home above.
I sent you each a memory of my undying love.

After all, love is a gift more precious than pure gold
It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do
For I can't count the blessing or love he has for each of you

So have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear
Remember, I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

So sorry that you have to go through this. We've lost a couple of family members this last month, too. I find it comforting to think that their suffering has ended and that they must be having one heck of a family reunion on the other side...Take care.

So sorry for your loss. Grandmothers are pretty special. I lost all of mine in the last few years, and still miss them terribly. Sending you good thoughts and keeping you in our prayers.
