Iraq Orphanage Nightmare

This sickens me to the core...

Several boys lie in a sparse, filthy room after they were discovered by U.S. and Iraqi Army forces on June 10, 2007. The soldiers found 24 naked and abused boys, ages 3 to 15, in the darkened room without any windows; some were tied to their cribs lying on the cement floor. The Ministry of Health moved them to this orphanage that allegedly doubled as a brothel operated by several men, sources said. Some men fled when Iraqi and Coalition Forces arrived. Many of the children were tied to their beds and were too weak to stand once released. The soldiers found kitchen shelves packed with food in the stock room. Instead of giving it to the boys, the soldiers believe it was being sold to local markets.
Sources who checked on the boys on June 11 reported that they were in better health and spirits. The boys will stay at another orphanage temporarily until they can be moved to Karbala where
they will live under the care of social services. (Photos: CBS)

"I saw children that you could see literally every bone in their body that were so skinny, they had no energy to move whatsoever, no expression on their face."
--Staff Sgt. Michael Beale of the Army's 82nd Airborne Division

Praise to our troops who are doing GOOD in a country where there is so much BAD. God Bless the Heroes serving their country. Not just the US but all countries who have troops in this nightmare of a war, brought on by terrorists with no sense of humanity or compassion.

How sad. That is when the crazy work and length of time it takes to adopt seems silly. Kids need loving homes and families -and we know there are plenty of those out there....God bless our troops that are out there seeing all this.

I hadn't heard about this story. How sad! It sickens me how innocent children are treated in this world. I wish we could all find them loving homes.

It is just mind boggling such cruelty exists in the world of 2007, my chest is tight and i feel quite sick reading about it, and it scares me so very much to think and know that this isnt the only tragedy affecting the kiddies of the world we can only hope that these young boys have been given a second chance, that peace comes to their country and that they recieve the love and affection they so very much need.

Oh noooo!!! That is so sad. People can be so cruel to innocent children. I just don't understand how anyone could be like that but there are monsters out there in this big world. Those poor boys. My heart is breaking...

Those pictures are just heartbreaking. How terrible. It is sometimes hard to believe that stuff like this still happens in this world.
