WYNNEWOOD, Pa. -- Adoptions From The Heart worked with Angelina Jolie to facilitate the adoption of 3-year-old Pax Thien from the Tam Binh orphanage in Vietnam.

Jolie began the adoption process with AFTH, which handles both international and domestic adoptions, last summer. She was referred to the agency by Jane Aronson, MD, a New York-based pediatrician who specializes in adoption medicine and treated Jolie's Ethiopian adopted daughter Zahara.

According to Heidi Gonzalez, AFTH's Vietnam program adoption coordinator, Jolie followed the same procedures as all prospective adoptive parents who apply to its Vietnam program.

"Throughout Ms. Jolie's adoption process, she received no preferential treatment from the Vietnamese government or Adoptions From The Heart, and, contrary to earlier reports, her application was not fast-tracked," said Gonzalez.

Despite rumors that Jolie chose her child, she received a referral, standard protocol for any parent adopting from Vietnam. In late 2006, she was referred a child who had been legally determined to be available for adoption and who fit within the parameters for which Jolie had been approved to adopt. She accepted the first and only referral given to her.

In addition, Gonzalez confirmed a statement given by Nguyen Van Trung, director of Tam Binh Orphanage, that Jolie has neither made, nor promised to make, any financial contributions to his orphanage.

HANOI, March 15 (Xinhua) -- U.S. movie star Angelina Jolie adopted Thursday a 3-year-old Vietnamese boy, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
At a ceremony in Vietnam's southern Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday morning, the city-based Tam Binh Orphanage handed over the boy named Pham Quang Sang to Angelina. Maddox, the actress' 5-year-old adopted child of Cambodian origin, was also present at the ceremony.

According the orphanage, Sang is fairly active, but often cries when meeting strangers. He can greet and speak out numbers in English.

In January, Angelina filed an application to Vietnam's Justice Ministry for adopting an abandoned child aged 3-5.

Sara you know I love you but...

As recently bringing home a baby from HCMC, Vietnam. It just ticks me off how she got to bypass all the rules. Vietnam got closed down the first time because of unethical things and now Angelina just strolls right in with her money and in less than a week after her Doisser paperwork is filed with the MOJ she has her G&R. When for any other Adoptive parent it takes at least 3-12 months after their paperwork is filed before they get their G&R and travel date. Just irks me to death!! Why didn't she have to stay the standard 3 weeks before getting granted a G&R in HCMC? Which HCMC claims is their standard procedure? Not that I didn't love my MONTH in Vietnam but I sure would have loved being able to come home in just a few days! Just shows you what money can do. It just pains me that she will be in and out of Vietnam in less than a week.

At least that little boy will have a good home. Which I guess is all that matters

Her boy is adoreable! BTW.....I hate the agency that Angelina worked with! Adoptions from the Heart was one of the agencies we looked into when we started our adoption process. They were so rude to us and treated me like I was an incompetant putz. I'm glad that Angelina had a good experience with them, however.
