Fun Fun Fun

Had parent teacher conferences at the school where I work tonight. fun. I usually just sit there and no one comes to talk to me. Makes me feel so loved. If you hsve children and go to conferences - please make a point of visiting the art, music, PE, library, Title I, special education, counselor, etc. if your child has those teachers. That way we don't feel like our 3 hours of sitting in the school was totally worthless! I don't really fall into that category since I am a special education director and people really only come to see me if there is a serious issue - so really I would rather people NOT come to see me!

Can anyone help with the renewal of our 171H? Do I just schedule an appt for fingerprinting and then take in the application, payment and homestudy when I go? (since this is just a renewal) or do I mail in the application and payment and wait for them to schedule a fingerprinting appt. for me? Any help would be appreciated!!!!!!

We are in GA. I copied my original I-797 and mailed it to our local office with an attached letter requesting our appt and the money order for $140. About a week later, I got the receipt in the mail and confimation of them receiving it. Then about 1 week later I got a letter with an appt in 4 days, that I had to cancele. I am still waiting on my next appt and anticipating not much notice this next time either. Good luck!

I'm not sure for your state. I would ask your agency or maybe look at their site.

We just went through this. We sent a letter to our local CIS office with a photocopy of our original I 171 H for proof. We stated our desire to get our fingerpritns re-done, etc, and we mailed in the $140.00 cost. About a week later we received a letter from Pittsburgh's CIS office stating when we had to come in to get our fingerprints re-done.

I don't know if your state has other requirements or not.

BTW.....I very rarely get any visitors when we have conferences. I even make Spanish and French foods to lure parents into my room, but that doesn't even work. I'll never be as important as math and English teachers....LOL

I would take not getting any visitors as a good thing. It must mean you are doing a wonderful job and the kids/parents are happy.

HA! I am an special ed teacher and I have to stand in the hall....and most of my parents smile and keep on walkin'! I go to all of the conferences for my students that I serve in inclusion, and their parents are always surprised to see me! Oh well...I have had that parent who found out my home phone number.....
