the cure

I took Mia to the doctor last week because of a suspected UTI. Further testing revealed that was not what it was. But anyway the dr. said her molars were swollen, meaning they were about to cut through her gums. So needless to say, Mia has not been a happy camper the last few nights. She has been fussy fussy fussy. Last night she wouldn't stop crying and fussing for anything! I tried everything with no results. I started thinking she probably needed something to chew on to ease the pain on her gums. Soooooo.... I gave her a pacifier. I presented one to her when we got home from China and she didn't want anything to do with it so I just threw it in her toy box and she sometimes pulls it out and sucks on it for a minute and throws it down. Like a novelty. Well last night she sucked and sucked on that thing and finally fell asleep on the floor with it in her mouth. She has NEVER fallen asleep on the floor in the living room. And she slept really well last night. I took it to the babysitter today and put it in her bag, told the sitter the story (she thought I was CRAZY) but I said "If she gets crabby and nothing else works just try it!" When I picked her up tonight I said... Was she crabby today? and she said "No... she didn't say a peep all day..." because she had the pacifier in her mouth all day... So, some people may think that I am a crazy mom to be giving my daughter a pacifier at 15 months old... but look at this picture I took tonight...

one in mouth, one in hand. and again -- asleep on the living room floor. Obviously this is something she needs right now so I am going to give it to her. She will not be one of those 3-4 year old kids running around with it in her mouth... but for now I am ok with it. Anything to comfort my baby!

oh... and she went poopy in the little potty tonight... but I didn't want to make a whole post about that for fear of embarrassing her when she is 17 and going to prom or something....

I agree with your thoughts. She needs that right now and as a mom, you try to do the best for them. Probably more so, when they aren't feeling well. Nice job mom!

She is adorable!!

My little one didn't take a paci until she was 12 months, she found it in her toy box! She didnt let it go for the entire year..then on her 2nd bday we took them all...and she was fine! Mia will be fine too!

I didn't think it was possible, but I think she just gets cuter and cuter with each passing day!
